Last week, I heard a rumor that French electronica duo Justice was off of the Voodo lineup – a bummer for me because I wanted to hear their arena-techno in its proper habitat. Tonight I got a Tweet from Voodoo saying that Justice will be part of a special performance Friday, October 30 in collaboration with the Life is Art Foundation before Eminems performance. The Life is Art Foundation will also curate an installation of large scale sculptures on the Voodoo grounds in City Park, so whatever Justice will be doing will be quite cool.

               

I’ve been told that undertaking mental challenges like sudokus and crosswords helps to fight the onset of Alzheimer’s. If so, Voodoo Music Experience is doing its part to help keep you lucid longer by releasing its schedule on Twitter as a series of word scrambles. Yesterday I got Ween, Eagles of Death Metal and Trombone Shorty, but one of two stumped me (but I was always lousy at scrambles).

This year, the Voodoo Music Experience moves back to the Halloween weekend – October 30-November 1. No talent has been announced yet.

The Voodoo Web site also has a pretty fine library of video from previous Voodoos, with the sound and video from the projection system. As such, it’s generally pretty strong. Go here for footage of the Stooges, the Beastie Boys, Nine Inch Nails, the Pixies, the Polyphonic Spree, M.I.A., Kings of Leon, the Drive-By Truckers, My Chemical Romance, the Flaming Lips, and many more. Galactic’s version of “The Immigrant Song” from last year’s Voodoo with Boots Riley, Lyrics Born and Chali 2Na is a powerhouse.
